In honor of mothers everywhere I thought I would share 7 things I’ve learned over the years from my own mom! Every mom has their own life lessons they pass on to their kids, here are some of my favorites from mine!
- There’s no such thing as being over dressed
Not sure what to wear to an event? My mom’s rule? Always better to be the overdressed one than the underdressed one.
- Always ask for the discount.
My mom is great at finding a deal. Always ask for the discount, and shop the sales. Too afraid to ask for the best deal? Just go for it, the worst that can happen is they say no.
- Seize the day!
If you get invited to do something – say yes!
- Be the first to say hi.
Or B-E- Aggressive! Don’t wait for people to come to you, be the outgoing one in the room, even if it’s scary. People will appreciate that you made the first move to say hi and introduce yourself.
- “I can make that!”
SO many times I tell my mom about a product I’ve seen and she so often says “I bet I could make that”. Whether we can or not, or even get around to it, we usually at least give it a try. Sometimes it results in something awesome sometimes it’s more like a “pinterest fail”. Either way we try something new, get a little creative and a lot of the time we learn to make something for ourselves!
- It’s 5 o’clock somewhere!
We like our wine in my family. It’s always nice to share a glass of something yummy with someone you enjoy hanging out with!
- Be the first person to dance.
My parents are always the first on the dance floor. Doesn’t seem to matter where, if no one is dancing, they get the party started.
Take some of this advice to heart and seize the day! Ask for the discount! Drink some wine! Dance!
Happy Mother’s Day!
